About the Event

We’re in a CLIMATE EMERGENCY. Drilling for more oil, which we cannot safely burn, is absurd. KEEP IT IN THE GROUND!
Extinction Rebellion are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Save our Shores and Fridays for Future.
We will be walking from Shaftesbury to Studland to oppose the plans for drilling off our beautiful coastline. Join us anywhere along the route, or for the mass gathering at Studland on Sunday 29th September at 2.30pm.Â
For the mass gathering we will meet up at: Joe’s Cafe BH19 3AN on South Beach.
From there we will walk towards Old Harry Rocks for a creative celebration. Bring a bell and ‘Ring the Changes’!
This pilgrimage aims to heighten people’s awareness across Dorset of our government’s plans for oil drilling and fracking in our county and why we must say NO. Wytch Farm oil field is the largest onshore operation in Europe. As part of the Earth Strike Action we will start walking on Friday 27th September. This public awareness initiative will also support the Extinction Rebellion action beginning the week of 7th October.  Dorset Council, town councils and the UK parliament have all declared a state of CLIMATE EMERGENCY.  The Seahorse Trust are taking the government to court for granting the drilling license to Corallian Energy. We need a green energy strategy NOW.
When will this be held? 27th, 28th and 29th September 2019.
