I pass by these two favourite trees early every morning on my walk before my my day really gets going. I have photographed them in all seasons, but love them in their winter nakedness.
I have a particular attachment to this purple hazel that Richard and I planted at Springhead to mark a special occasion.

The beautiful sight of two young lime trees in Tollard Royal.
There are twenty seven pollarded lime trees in St. Rumbold's Road. I imagine they were planted when the local authority built the houses in the 1940's and 50's. This was a time when the space around homes was valued and considered more than it is today.
I really like these trees! They give shade on the hot days of Summer, provide habitat for wildlife and bring a more natural feel to our streetscape.

So this is one of many favourite trees of mine. It's an ancient field maple, located at the Ashcombe Quaker Burial ground. I come here for a bit of quiet contemplation sometimes, knowing that I am surrounded by Friends.
