About the Event
As part of Insulate Britain’s fortnightly cultural and political events, we are very pleased to be able to bring together inspiring individuals from communities from around the world who are confronting the corporate onslaught on their lands and rights. It is easy to forget that in many regions activists are facing the threat of violence and death. As we decide on stepping up to our responsibilities in the coming months in the run up to COP, it is important we gain some perspective on what we are being asked to do – compared with what others around the world face. We are part of a vast global movement of movements. We are not alone in our courage and determination. The speakers will give their stories and perspectives, and then we will move onto outlining the actions and strategy of Insulate Britain and have testimonies from some of those who have signed up. This will be followed by break out rooms where we can share our thoughts and feelings on what we have heard. Provisionally we have speakers from the indigenous communities of Canada, and campaigns against oil and fracking extraction in Namibia and the Philippines. Fuller details we be provided in the coming days This event is a great opportunity for us in the UK to learn from others, so please share this event with friends, and within XR and related social media networks.
