About the Event
Shaftesbury Nature Collective are celebrating migratory birds as they return to Great Britain with
Shaftesbury Cuckoo Day April 24
We are hoping to raise the profile of this important harbinger of spring and to increase action and improve the wild places on our doorstep.
We have a day planned which will include Karen Wimhurst and other clarinetists offering cuckoo calls across the town, choirs processing from the Town Hall along Park Walk singing cuckoo songs, and in the evening at The Grosvenor a talk by Mike McCarthy (ex environment editor of The Independent) author of Say Goodbye to the Cuckoo and The Moth Snowstorm: Nature and Joy who lives not far away. Tickets for this talk can be booked through Folde.
