About the Event
Bere Marsh Farm has just been purchased by the Countryside Restoration Trust. The Trust aims to create a working countryside using sensitive and sympathetic farming practices that encourage and protect wildlife and produce high-quality produce.
Bere Marsh Farm has wetland, grassland and woodland. The hope is to have a small milking herd of cows, a small flock of Dorset sheep, free-range hens and orchard. The farm has a trailway, footpaths, and a bridleway — a lot of people walk by it and through it.
The Countryside Restoration Trust was founded by Robin Page and the late artist and conservationist, Gordon Beningfield. They have a number of farms across the country but Bere Marsh Farm is seen as having the potential to be their showcase. This talk by the project manager for Bere Marsh Farm is hosted by Planet Shaftesbury.
