About the Event
About this event What does war in Ukraine, and the global response to conflict, tell us about global food production and food systems more broadly? The Russian invasion of Ukraine has sparked a food price crisis with devastating impacts being felt around the world - but while Russia lit the touch paper, this crisis was predicted and could have been avoided. What does this crisis tell us about structural weaknesses in global food production and food systems? Is this conflict a fore-taste of things to come, as major food and fossil fuel-producing nations begin to strategically reposition their economies? How should food sovereignty and ecological security be prioritised? And what does the response to this conflict tell us about the power of agricultural lobby groups and support for agroecological transition in the global arena?
The Food & Global Security Network was created by Farmwel. Please register for this event. We will send you a webinar link a week before the discussion. Farmwel also produces the Farm Gate podcast Our latest episode, Localism or nationalism, with Natalie Bennett and Sue Pritchard, can be found here.
