About the Event

The public engagement team at Bournemouth University write ...

The event is ‘Green Recovery: what should we be doing post pandemic?’, part of our Café Scientifique series.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, governments promised a 'Green Recovery' - setting a new course for the economy to bounce back from the pandemic while addressing the impending climate crisis, pollution and biodiversity loss. Others suggested Green New Deals, to tackle social problems at the same time.

But amid wars, spiralling inflation and a cost-of-living crisis - have these aims now been forgotten?

Join Bournemouth University's Professor Rick Stafford to explore what really works to address social and environmental concerns, and discover that not all Green New Deals are equal.

Café Scientifique events are a friendly, social way for people to hear about the latest and most fascinating research direct from the researchers. These events are for everyone, you don’t need to know anything about the topic. After a short talk from our speaker, we’ll have plenty of time for questions and discussion.

This is our first in-person Café Scientifique for two years, so we’re very excited to see you all and enjoy the warm atmosphere that makes these events unique. The café venue will be open from 5pm, so we encourage you to come along early to get something to eat and drink before the talk starts. The café does a fantastic pizza menu, which you can see on the event page.

If this event is of interest, please feel free to promote and circulate it among any others who might be interested. If you have any questions about the event, please reply to this email.
