About the Event
This evening is organised by Jenny Morisetti, known for Defashion Dorset and chair of Sustainable Dorset. The film will be RiverBlue (2017), about which Wikipedia says:
" ... documentary film that chronicles a three-year, around-the-world river journey by paddler and conservationist Mark Angelo during which he uncovered and documented the pollution impacts of the global fashion industry. He explores the fashion sector, from denim to leather to fast fashion, as one of the world's most polluting industries. RiverBlue ... won several international awards, including the 2017 Best Documentary Feature at the Raindance Film Festival. The film was also honored at the 2018 World Water Forum in Brasilia, where it was presented with the AFD Best Film Award (sponsored by the French Development Agency) and the Green Drop Award honoring the film from 2017 that best promoted sustainability."
Doors open at 6.30pm. The plan for the evening follows the successful pattern established last year. Bar opens at 6.30, people arrive and hand in up to 5 garments (in good clean condition and in a bag with your name and mobile number) then the film starts at 7pm. Afterwards the stylish clothes swap will take place upstairs with participants using tokens (received by text) for the clothes they handed in. The tokens can be exchanged for selected ‘new’ garments. Tickets are £10 and are for sale through the arts centre.
