About the Event
Fashion shouldn't cost the earth.
Fashion Reimagined is an acclaimed documentary.
Lisa Armstrong, Daily Telegraph said: 'Beautiful, informative, shocking & inspiring'.
Jess Cartner-Morley, The Guardian, said: 'A must-watch, not just for the fashion industry but for everyone who wears clothes'.
Fashion designer Amy Powney of cult label Mother of Pearl is a rising star in the London fashion scene. Raised off-the-grid in rural England by activist parents, Amy has always felt uneasy about the devastating environmental impact of her industry. When she wins the coveted Vogue award for the Best Young Designer of the Year, which comes with a big cash prize, Amy decides to use the money to create a sustainable collection from field to finished garment, and transform her entire business. Over the following three years, her own personal revolution becomes the precursor of a much bigger, societal change.
Tonight's event at the Arts Centre combines the film show with a clothes swap. The plan for the evening will be: bar opens at 6.30, people arrive and hand in up to 5 garments (including some party items) then the film starts at 7pm. On completion (film 100mins) the clothes swap will take place upstairs and participants will be able to shop for ‘new’ garments, including using tokens received for the clothes they handed in. The bar will be open. Tickets will be £10 and are for sale through the arts centre.
