About the Event
The festival aims to create a collective network between flower farmers and florists in Dorset and promote our produce and work to a wider public. Starting as a small festival, we can introduce visitors to local, slow-grown and sustainable cut flowers, showcase the produce and exhibit floral arrangements / installations / creative work, to visitors during the festival day.
Venue: Holloway Farm, Shillingstone, DT11 0SY Date: Sunday 20th August, 11–5pm
Participants: Dorset-based flower farmers and British flower florist working exclusively with homegrown and British seasonal flowers, cultivating and/or arranging using environmentally friendly practices. Festival event space: The site is on 4 acres of former dairy farm pasture, some of which is currently the Dorset Lavender Farm Project’s care farm, and Eveline’s Flowers cut flower farm.
- Festival Welcome tent: for info/ticket entry/ programmes etc
- Flower Market for participants (your own gazebo and display/sales pitch equipment is needed, but help with set up can be arranged).
- Festival show tent with staging, plenty of space for participant stands/showcase. Stage and Auditorium – talks, demonstrations by floor farmers florists.
- Eco-friendly Producers and Craft Market stalls/display/exhibition stands.
Flower Installations – all around these areas. Cut Flower Garden area and lavender plant growing areas.
Picnic Area, Refreshment Area – DLFP to serve cakes, tea and coffee for donations.
Order picnic lunch hamper in advance.
Children’s Corner – natural crafts and materials provided for DIY activities.
Sensory & Quiet Area – lavender garden.
Mains water taps and Eco toilets (sawdust composting) and bins are provided for recycling and compostables. There is no mains electricity or wi-fi on site, but a good mobile signal. Visitors, participants, and staff will be encouraged to arrive on foot or bicycle if possible using the North Dorset Trailway, because we aim for sustainability across the Festival event.
