from Dorset Climate Action Network

to Partners in the Alliance Campaign to secure a Re-think of the Dorset Local Plan

9 January 2022

Dear friends,

Greetings. We are very encouraged by the decision of so many of you to formally support the “Dorset Deserves Better” campaign to persuade Dorset Council to Re-think the draft Local Plan.

So far 29 organisations have formally joined the Alliance and we are still waiting to hear from a further 20.  This is a very good start for the campaign, but we need the agreement from as many as you as possible.  So, if you have not yet responded, please give us your agreement and the number of members/followers you have

We now write to confirm our invitation to attend the Meeting of Partners on Tuesday 11 January, 7 to 9pm, by Zoom.

All Alliance Partners, whether already committed or still deciding, are invited to this meeting which will finalise the arrangements for the Campaign to be launched later this week

We attach Agenda for the meeting, plus the final draft of the Open Letter to Dorset Council and an updated Campaign Strategy which outlines the scope of the Campaign and the action to be taken by Partners.

Meeting ID: 817 7812 0509, Passcode: 151252

We are disappointed to report that, for the time being, Dorset CPRE has dropped out of the joint leadership of the Campaign.  This is due to internal issues and consequent delay in securing agreement within their organisation.  CPRE has contributed much to the campaign over the last 6 months and we hope we can continue to work together with them in the future either as co-leaders of the Campaign or as Alliance Partners.  In the meantime, Dorset CAN is taking over sole leadership  of the campaign and driving forward our timetable, as we feel the campaign cannot be delayed any further.  We sincerely hope this change in the leadership of the campaign does not affect your participation in the Alliance.

We look forward most warmly to seeing you all on Tuesday evening. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.

Kind regards,

Michael Dower and Giles Watts
