About the Event
Our June meeting is part of Great Big Green Week celebrations of community activity in the face of challenges to climate & nature.
Hear about the changes to local wildlife, habitat and community involvement experienced by Gary Mantle over the past 33 years.
Hear how collaboration between WWF, RSPB, the National Trust and people like us has generated the People’s Plan for Nature.
What next for Shaftesbury? Open to all. Refreshments, donations invited.
At our meeting in January, Chris Harwood, then better known as the organiser of community tree planting projects around Shaftesbury's hinterland, made a pitch for us to aim BIG for GBGW 2023 (June 10th-18th). Since then many local individuals and groups have been inspired to join in with this national celebration. Previous local activities have been linked to GBGW: the town's Tree Festival (2021), participation in a Dorset-wide Open Greener Homes event (2021 & 22), a display at the Library: Cost of Living - what can I do and save the planet too? (2022), a film show: Kiss the Ground (2022), and more. We hope 2023 will engage even more people than previous years.
