yes, these lovely limes-we are lucky to have them in our street, they really do provide welcome, cool shade on hot days and habitat for birds. I think there's a slight problem in perception with some residents, who resent sap falling on their cars but they provide so much! People have got out of touch with nature, I don't think they realise how vital trees are to us

I don't know! Maybe Arthur would know. I just thought it was a very interesting discussion, are we going to "lose" footpaths? Are too many people walking the footpaths causing damage, trampling? But we need footpaths don't we? Even land owners presumably use footpaths on other people's land.

Yes we noticed the signs appealing for funds to restore the beautiful old barn for barn owls there, as we walked past the other day on the Trailway. It's very exciting. I had already noticed the hedgerow planted for dormice a while ago as we cycled past, but have only just come across the Countryside Restoration Trust and am feeling hopeful after reading up about it. I think they own 15 farms in England now.

yes I am definitely driving a lot less (but am able to work online to some extent) and enjoying not driving about so much, driving lots is tiring. I think we as a society are addicted to flying about, too much. We (our small family) have been trying to not fly in recent years...we may save up to do a big trip to visit family in Canada (we've never been across the pond before) but that would be exceptional. We're planning to travel by train more, when we can, to Europe for example, a nice way to travel, where the journey becomes part of the holiday rather than zapping across the world as quickly as possible
