As part of an exciting new partnership with Springhead at Fontmell Magna, Sustainable Dorset (of which I am a Trustee) will be launching a series of bimonthly 'Sustainable Sundays' talks on 14th April (4 to 6pm) and we do hope you will be able to attend our first event. We are delighted to start with an exotic worldwide journey through some of Edward Parker's sustainable forestry projects, illustrated with his own beautiful photographs. Edward Parker, who is Executive Director of Springhead, is an acclaimed environmentalist, campaigner, educator, writer and photographer who has a passion for ancient trees, rainforest conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources. For over 25 years he has travelled to more than 40 countries documenting not only the forests, wildlife and environmental devastation, but also created photographic essays on the way remote peoples live sustainably in some of the last great wildernesses such as the Amazon, Congo and Borneo rain forests. He has written more than 30 educational books (mainly on development issues and rainforest conservation) and co-authored and photographed 'Ancient Trees: trees that live for a thousand years', 'Photographing Trees' and 'Ancient Trees of the National Trust'. Over the last 25 years he has worked with a wide variety of organisations relating to environmental education and the sustainable use of resources including Kew Gardens, Oxford Botanic Gardens, WWF International, The Tropical Forest Trust, The Woodland Trust, The National Trust, the Eden Project etc. He is a member of the Ancient Tree Forum and has been the Manager of the Springhead Trust at Fontmell Magna since 2013. The venue for this talk will be the Upper Mill Room at Springhead, accessed via the rear car-park as detailed below. The entry fee for this event will be £2 for members of either Sustainable Dorset (Dorset Agenda 21) or Springhead, or £4 for non-members. It is hoped that you will join one of these worthy charities online as this only costs £6/£12 or £10 p.a. respectively and will save you £2 off each event. All proceeds from the 'Sustainable Sundays' events will be shared between Springhead and Sustainable Dorset/Dorset Agenda 21. Full details on membership benefits and options are given on the websites below: https://www.sustainabledorset.org/join https://www.springheadtrust.org.uk/support-us/join-the-friends-of-springhead Please note that Springhead is a wheelchair accessible venue, and directions to the venue and our room on the premises are as follows: Springhead is on Mill Street, Fontmell Magna at SP7 0NU. The drive to Springhead's car-park is 400yds beyond the main gate, leading to the rear entrance.  There is an accessible sloping path from the car-park down to the door to our venue, the Upper Mill Room, which has an accessible WC on the same floor. I hope to see you there! Pam
