The proposed solar farm at motcombe has been rejected for planning permission by the Shaftesbury Toown Council. Do you agree with this decision and do you feel the views of the councilors represented your views? See the planning meeting on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOOjr8GITWc This was an issue of concern raised at the Planet Shaftesnbury Meeting. Here is the planning appliaction for all the details: https://planning.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/plandisp.aspx?recno=236869&fbclid=IwAR1QgLjn9I8O4RKEY_RChj2YFBig-yRNoSY7GBUZ9G_Y_rBwc6oCvMyZlXkhttps://planning.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/plandisp.aspx?recno=236869&fbclid=IwAR1QgLjn9I8O4RKEY_RChj2YFBig-yRNoSY7GBUZ9G_Y_rBwc6oCvMyZlXk

We've just heard about Bere Marsh Farm near Child Okeford - thanks Di for bringing this to our attention. We're excited to hear that the Countryside Restoration Trust has recently taken ownership of the farm. Here's what they say on their website "On 30 June 2020 we completed the purchase of Bere Marsh Farm, just outside Shillingstone and on the River Stour. This was nearly 5 years after we first visited, and fell in love, with the property. It is a fantastic farm with a history of hope and conservation. It lies close to the village of Shillingstone. The River Stour runs alongside, and often over it when the floodplain does what floodplains are supposed to do flood. Just beyond is Hambledon Hill, a big chunk of chalk rising to over 600 feet — a place of incredible history, botany and geology." Here is some information kindly provided by Arthur Simmonds: At Studland we signed a petition about the 2015 Environment Act which compels the government to exploit all available & potential fossil fuel sources. Then Simon Hoare who promised to take action said he thought this Act no longer applied. Well this article gives the lie to that.

Hi All, Some of you may have noticed a recent refresh of the website design which hopefully makes things a little clearer and easier to read. We have also recently added a new "Further Reading" page. This contains many links to key reports and articles on Climate Change and Biodiversity loss. This is a great place to start if you want to learn more on these subjects. You can access the new page straight off the menu above - its under the "Find Out More" heading or just click here

If you would like to take part in the XR Shaftesbury and Save our Shores Pilgrimage, but cannot do the walking, we are looking for people to act as a Wellbeing group. This group will be on hand to assist the walkers with tea, coffee, blister plasters, lifts, directions, or general encouragement. We will also need people who can drive, to transport people or equipment to various locations or maybe just to get people home. If you can help please post a message in reply to this thread with your preferred contact details. Or if you'd rather - just contact us directly - send an email to Karen@karenwimhurst.co.uk
