View in your browser 📷 Hi Arthur, Thank you for having signed the petition to stop corporate courts, or ISDS. We wanted to share with you three videos about the impact of corporate courts. One of our allies, Corporate Europe Observatory, has been travelling round Europe finding out more about the impact of ISDS on community struggles against corporate power, and they’ve brought back these vivid stories: Rosia Montana, Romania Meet the inspiring community who protected the beautiful Romanian village of Rosia Montana from a toxic gold mine and succeeded in getting the national courts to put a halt to it. But now the mining company, Gabriel Resources, is suing Romania in a corporate court and wants £4.5bn. 📷 SHARE ON FACEBOOK SHARE ON TWITTER Dubrovnik, Croatia It was a huge win for citizens over speculators when courts stopped a luxury golf resort in the ancient Croatian city of Dubrovnik. But now a corporate court case threatens to lead to this victory being reversed. 📷 SHARE ON FACEBOOK SHARE ON TWITTER Abruzzo, Italy "The arbitration is a stab to my heart, it's a stab to the heart of all the people of Abbruzzo who fought against Ombrina Mare, and it's a stab to democracy." Maria d’Orsogna from the No Oil Abruzzo campaign, about the corporate court case brought by UK oil company, Rockhopper. 📷 SHARE ON FACEBOOK SHARE ON TWITTER Please can you share the videos from the links above, to spread the word about the risks and damage of corporate courts and encourage more people to sign the petition. Across Europe, more than half a million people have already come together to sign petitions to stop ISDS. But we want to get even more people to join the movement to put an end to this unfair shadow legal backdoor for corporations. We’ve been investigating another UK registered firm, Lydian, which is threatening a corporate court case against Armenia. We’ll be in touch shortly with more on that, so do keep a look out.
