Would those who often participate in the meetings on zoom consider it appropriate to devote a number of these meetings (1 or 2 a month, never in consecutive weeks, perhaps 5 altogether) to a series of talks with Q&A? The suggestion is from Brigit Strawbridge who would like to share her expertise and give a real boost to the town's capacity to continue being bee & pollinator-friendly after she has moved. We would seek to invite other enthusiasts to join us.
If the use of Thursday evenings wouldn't work then we'll seek an alternative. As we'd like to launch the series next month it would be good to know one way or the other over the next few days.
Thank you all 🙂
I think this is a great idea! Based on the fascinating session last night with Mark Potter, it adds interest and variety to our Thursday meetings and enables us to keep learning during the restrictions caused by the pandemic. Every day is a school day 🌍🎓
Great question. I think it works really well, I feel that to one visiting speaker a month might be a good upper limit. And maybe not in December and January because we also have to wind down and wind back up.
I think once a month talk from Bridget would be excellent, particularly as we shall soon be losing her and her knowledge.
I'd be happy with that Rachel.
I agree with David that one session a month feels right, at present at least. And a variety of speakers, or a variety of subjects.
Thank you all. We now have 4 meetings at month-long intervals earmarked for complementary sessions on bees, their different behaviours and life cycles, relationships with flowering plants, the problems they all face, and what we can do to help them. For more information and to book a place see https://planetshaftesbury.eventbrite.co.uk/ These online meetings are accessible from the home page.
