We're all keen to stay connected so that we can support one another at this time. Here are a couple of useful links - and an invitation from Shaftesbury Town Council. We'll be able to discuss our Planet Shaftesbury response when we 'meet' online this evening (see events).
Eden Project Communities have collected ideas from community support projects and offer a useful poster here https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/community-action-response

And here is Planet Shaftesbury's invitation to join in with support offered across the town's communities taken from an email received from the town council yesterday:
THE CORONAVIRUS - Supporting Shaftesbury
We are all experiencing high levels of disruption and uncertainty as the Coronavirus takes hold across the UK. As a local council we are the most local level of government and have an important role in promoting the town, representing its interests and supporting the work of different groups within the community. It is also vital in the current crisis that we keep an eye on vulnerable people within our community and encourage new volunteers to come forward to help. We need your help! As a community group in Shaftesbury we need your help. The Civic Society and Blackmore Vale Partnership will all take on leading roles and it is the expectation that as an active community group you and your members may want to join in so we have a collaborative approach to managing the current challenges. The staff team at the Town Hall are here to support as part of the coordination effort and welcome more people to join the Support Group. I have attached a COVID-19 leaflet which can be used by volunteers who may be able to assist those more vulnerable people in our community. These forms can be distributed to your members and volunteers that may want to support can pop these leaflets through the doors of those people that are self-isolating and my be vulnerable. The leaflet is self-explanatory and gives the recipient an offer of support from a volunteer who would be willing to assist them during the period of self-isolation. The leaflet also details the contact names and number of those in the Support Group coordination role (as of today). A batch of leaflets has also be printed and the Town Hall will act as a hub for those who do not have printing facilities. These leaflets will be in the foyer of the Town Hall for individuals and/ or groups to collect.
What are the Town Hall staff doing to support our community?
The staff will provide a regular briefing following government advice via a poster (outside the Town Hall), website and social media updates – an enhanced communication role. See the Town Council website for the latest daily update on Covid 19 guidance (https://www.shaftesbury-tc.gov.uk/). The staff will signpost services that the community may find useful The staff will provide reassurance to our community that will offer support where we canSupport the community groups to reach out to those vulnerable people in our community in a support capacity Next steps:
Please can you help us spread the word and invite your members to pop a leaflet through the doors of those neighbours that are self-isolating?
Those members that may be self-isolating themselves may want to offer support via a telephone call – how can they help?
Please ask your members to jot down the postcode and number of the house that they are posting a leaflet to and then let us know this information. We feel it is important to keep track of who has a ‘buddy’ so we can identify any shortfalls in support
If any of your members want to join the Shaftesbury Support Group then please let Brie or Zoe know. The Support Group is there to support those organisations reach out to support those in the community.
As we get more people wanting to be a member of the Support Group we can update the leaflet accordingly.
Let us know how and if you can support and whether you would like to receive regular updates from the Support Group.
