About the Event
Hedgehogs are in trouble.
PROVIDE shallow dishes of water – bird bath√
NO slug pellets - they can be fatal. Hedgehogs eat insects, slugs too, and need unkempt areas in which to feed and long grass in which to lie up during the day.
CHECK long grass by gently prodding with a stick before strimming or mowing.
MAKE log piles around the edge of gardens and allotments where they can hide and feed.
HOLES 5 inches/13cms square in fences to enable them to travel long distances at night in search of food.
BUILD a box or make a cavity under a shed
We'll hear of other ways to conserve our hedgehogs during this talk. Come along to be part of this initiative to make Shaftesbury hedgehog friendly.
Please use Eventbrite to register your intention to join this event so that we can manage the numbers in a 'Covid-cautious' way - link here Planet Shaftesbury Events | Eventbrite
We will encourage mask-wearing when moving about, distance the seating, allow plenty of time for refreshments/comfort break, take contact details and have sanitiser available - creating an environment similar to that maintained by cafes and restaurants prior to 19th July.
Come along to join the Hedgehog Friendly Shaftesbury initiative.
