About the Event
Next meeting: March 21st from 6.45pm
We’ll use this meeting to prepare to reach out to the wider community of Shaftesbury during week commencing 15th April, a week of high-profile action by Extinction Rebellion that includes our next meeting on April 18th. We’ll start by reviewing possible activities that highlight the climate emergency or ways to make a positive difference, and then make specific plans depending on where our combined energies lay.
• If you’ve come across details of anything done elsewhere that doesn’t require too much preparation and would be suitable for Shaftesbury, please bring a description (A4 sheet) to inspire us. Could involve a talk or film, launching a campaign (eg plastic free town), a ceremony, special walk or bike ride, a litter pick, flyposting around the town, celebration with music/dancing …. There’ll be tables to display the information you bring.
• And if you’d like to bring a plate of vegan/veggie finger food to share as we look through the information informally, please do. Label with the ingredients so that those with allergies or special preferences know what they can eat.
From 6.30pm Town Hall open as we set the room up
6.45 – 7.45 Informal time: circulate, add to and talk about ideas on display – children can join in
7.45 Announcements – forthcoming events/updates
7.55 Group work to plan and prepare for April activities (in Shaftesbury or London)
9.15 Groups to report back - What we’ll do, what publicity or extra work is needed, and what it will to lead to afterwards… Then check what needs to happen at April & May meetings and CLOSE
