About the Event

What could future land use look like? How can we develop healthy, resilient, fair, sustainable food  systems for everyone? Set against the backdrop of climate change, biodiversity loss and an epidemic  in chronic disease, a panel of speakers will come together for an evening event to explore food and farming and how we can move to a positive future. This event was initially advertised for earlier in 2022 but has been pushed back; the new timing and venue will be posted here when information becomes available.

In the original plans, the main speaker is Patrick Holden, CBE, a regenerative agriculture champion, Founder of the  Sustainable Food Trust. He will be joined by a panel: Melanie Squires, MBE, Director, National  Farmers Union, South West; Dr Antonia Wrigley, Founder of The Real Food Campaign, Vice Chair  of the British Holistic Medical Association, trained as a GP; and Ped Asgarian, Director of Feeding  Bristol. The event will be chaired by ffinlo Costain: chief executive of the Food & Global Security Network and producer of Farm Gate, the regenerative agriculture podcast.

The aim of the event is to stimulate local dialogue, collaboration and positive action. With a live  audience and live streamed, the event will be promoted across local stakeholder groups including  landowners and farmers; growers, food distributors and retailers; health and lifestyle practitioners;  consumers; local government; community organisations, charities and food banks; conservationists  and sustainability champions. The audience will be invited to contribute ideas for positive change at  a local level.

The event is organised by Positive Nature, a not-for-profit organisation  celebrating the wonder of the natural world and promoting sustainable living  and wellbeing. Set up by cancer survivor Laura Downer, the organisation  works collaboratively to highlight good practice and spread positive change.
